| Personal History | A true Starfleet brat, Stephan Saint's lineage goes back seven generations, to the Earth Starfleet. His great-great-great-great-great-grandfather served on an NX-class starship, and was later the Federation's first Surgeon General. As a child, Saint was ferried from assignment to assignment, often not with both parents. He studied hard, finally being rewarded, at the age of 16, with admission into Starfleet Academy two years early. Excelling at the Academy, Saint earned the Academy Ribbon of Excellence for graduating in the top 10 percent of his class. He graduated eighth in a class of over 1,000, missing out on Valedictorian by two one-hundredths of one point on his GPA. Moving on with his education, and the family tradition, Ensign Saint attended the Starfleet Medical Academy, where he was Valedictorian, earning dual doctorates, in Medicine, and Osteopathic Medicine. On his first assignment, to the Ambassador-class Neil Armstrong Stephan showed an amazing dedication to his work. This earned him awards, and a promotion to the position of Assistant Chief Medical Officer on the newly commissioned Starship Galaxy. While on the Galaxy Stephan experienced the joys of exploration, and the heartbreak of battle. In July of 2367, the Galaxy was dispatched to serve as a support vessel in the Battle of Wolf 359. She didn't make it in time. Upon arrival, all the Galaxy was able to do was recover some of the dead. Later that same year, Stephan Saint was awarded the Bronze Star for gallantry. On an away mission, the Galaxy's XO and Chief Science Officer were killed, and the rest of the away team taken hostage. Saint, being the senior officer remaining kept morale high, and eventually led the remainder of the team in an escape, and returned to the ship. In 2369, then-Lieutenant Saint was awarded a Silver Star during a standoff with a Romulan Warbird. The Galaxy had intervened on behalf of a merchant vessel that had strayed into the Neutral Zone. Lieutenant Saint volunteered to beam over to the freighter and assist it's medic. Just a week later, Saint was transferred to the newly commissioned prototype medical ship Apollo, as Chief Medical Officer. Ironically, one of the first major support missions the Apollo was deployed for, was the Battle of Sector 001 (The Second Borg Incursion). Lieutenant Saint oversaw no less than 100 surgeries personally, and his staff performed over 1,000 total. It was also on the Apollo that he spent the Dominion War, patching together the wounded as best as he could. The Apollo served in support of the First Battle of Chin'Toka, remaining on station in support of operations on planet AR-558. Eight months later, the Apollo was back at Chin'Toka, in support of the retreat. It was around this time, that Stephan felt the pull towards Command. He had qualified as a bridge officer several months before, and pulled the occasional shift as Officer of the Deck. He applied to the Starfleet Command Academy, and heard nothing for a few months. Then came word he had been accepted... with three hour's notice. Quickly packing, he hastily left the woman he was involved with, Brogan Shields, a note. After completing the Command Academy, Stephan Saint's first posting was as XO of the Starship Mercury. Upon his arrivial, he found that the CMO was none other than Doctor Brogan Shields. After Commander Tholas's removal from her position as CO, Saint was promoted to Acting Commander, and assumed command of the vessel. After the Starfleet bombings of November 2376, Commander Saint was field promoted to Acting Captain by Vice Admiral William Ross, owing to the large number of vacant Captain's billets. Saint is the first of his family to transfer to command as a long-term career choice, a decision he has been known to question. In early 2378, Saint was promoted to Commodore, and assigned as Dean of the Starfleet Medical Academy, following a classified mission on the Mercury |
