Personality & Traits

General Overview		Ketran follows the Vulcan traditions of logic and repression of emotion. Typically adopting a stern manner, Ketran likes to present an image of total seriousness. However this does not prevent him from having a rather sarcastic sense of humour, something atypical of Vulcans.
Strengths & Weaknesses		Ketran served in the War after the destruction of the Vulcan Science Academy Vessel T'pan. After its destruction he was adrift for several months. Though he maintains that this loss had little effect on him, in truth he is still haunted by the events of 2372. **CONFIDENTIAL CONFIDENTIAL** Ketran took a leave of absence after the end of the Dominion War in order to undertake the Vulcan ritual of Kolinahr. He was unsuccessful in his attempt, something which has had a detrimental effect on his personality and confidence in his emotional control.
Ambitions		Ketran has little ambition, beyond serving Starfleet to the best of his abilities. In the future, he hopes to return and teach at the Science Academy.

Personal History		Ketran was born on Vulcan, the son of Lecturer Savrek of the Vulcan Science Academy. His upbringing was fairly typical for a Vulcan and after reaching adulthood he joined the Science Academy, following in his fathers footsteps. He spent several years researching at the Vulcan facility on P'Jem, specializing in Xeno-Biology and Cultural Studies. In 2356 he was assigned as a Xeno-biologist onboard the Vulcan Science Vessel T'Pan, charting the worlds of the McKay cluster. A long term mission, the vessel was scheduled to be on assignment for almost twenty years. However this mission was tragically cut short after the beginning of hostilities with the Dominion. Whilst exploring the gaseous nebula bordering the McKay Cluster, the T'Pran was attacked by several Jem'Hadar strike vessels. Unable to fend of its attackers, the crew were forced to evacuate the stricken vessel, escaping in lifepods. The Jem'Hadar targeted the lifepods, destroying many, whilst a few managed to evade attack and take refuge within the nebula. Ketran spent the next six months adrift and alone. At first he was in regular contact with several other pods, however as the weeks progressed they became seperated and communication was cut off. He was eventually recovered by the Uss Eisenstein, although the vessel was unable to locate the other survivors. To this day Ketran does not know their fate. With the War raging around him, Ketran decided it was Logical to enlist in Starfleet, to put his skills to the greatest use. With his assistance, Captain McVenner of the Eisenstein was able to convince several non-member races to provide aid to the Federation and support for the War Effort. After the War's end, Ketran took an extended leave of absense **CONFIDENTIAL, MEDICAL CLEARANCE REQUIRED** before returning to active service aboard the Uss Mercury.
