General Overview		Ali is a man who is very tough, professionally and at home. He wants his way done, and done right the first time, with dire consequences if it's not. He likes things done by the book, and is not afraid to get in someone's face if it's not. When it comes to his family, however, he's a little more of a push-over, sometimes, sort of, in a very complicated way. His sons, no. His daughters, however, he dotes upon, though still being strict with them as well, when they don't wind him around their fingers.

Personal History		Ali Abdul Musqit Humair Imad Mahmoud Gereshk was born in Afganistan on Earth, to a traditional Middle Eastern family. One of the few truly traditional families left in that area. He grew up with his five siblings; Jabir, Izzy, Mo, Shiza and Shujana. He was the oldest, though, and so responsibility always landed on him. His father, a well known Afghani shiek and author always wanted Ali to be his hear and the future patriarch of the family, as well as wanting him to be a physician. At the age of 18, Ali got married to Zumurruda, a young woman his age, whose family was from the area. Although he wasn't really interested at the time, it was insisted upon by their families. So they married, and being married, Ali decided to forgo education and get a respectable job. A month after marrying, he enlisted in Starfleet as a corpsman. While he was going to training and then during his service on the Shlesk, Zumurruda went through training as well, as a science technician mainly for deep space patrols. They got posted together again on the Galveston, where they had a good relationship, despite both being young and knowing little about each other. In '55 they were transferred to the USS Truett, where a year later, Zumurruda gave birth to their first son Amr. Ali was ecstatic over having a son, an heir, although he promised himself that he would never treat Amr like his father had treated him. Tensions with Zumurruda started shortly after Amr's birth, however, because Ali wanted many more children, and she did not. She also wanted to head out to deeper space assignments, which Ali insisted were not appropriate for couples with children. Being the head of the house, he refused to let her. This was his first major mistake. Wazeera came aboard the Helena, giving them their first daughter. Though the tension remained between Ali and his wife, he still loved her and his children with all his heart and worked hard for them. Wazeera completely wrapped him around her fingers. Double blessings fell upon the Gereshks in '63 when Zumurruda gave birth to identical boys, Zaim and Yusuf. This truly irritated Zumurruda, who did not wish to be tied down to a family. Zarar looked to be the last, after his birth on the Fitzgerald. In '67, Ali was assigned to Starfleet Medical on Earth, which pleased him, but did not please Zumurruda. In order to appease her, he insisted she take a deep space mission while he was on Earth, and he took the children while she went. She was gone for two years, then came back, scheduled for only three months leave, it was delayed another seven because of the last, wholly unexpected edition to the family, Karida. During Zumurruda's forced time on Earth, though, tensions between she and Ali reached a peak and she left him. It broke Ali's heart, that his lotus flower would leave him and their children, but after two years of denial, he signed the divorce papers. At the start of the Dominion War, Ali was transferred off planet to the USS Oder as SCPOIC. Zumurruda was on a deep space mission again, so Ali sent his children to live with their grandparents back home in Afghanistan. The war was hard on Ali, not just because it was war, but his isolation from his family and his culture. He hid inside of himself, returning to cultural traditions to try to keep his sanity in the war. It is said that there are no atheists in foxholes, for Ali that was very true, a faith he had never accepted before, he relied on. Even with his faith, though, he felt like it was driving him crazy in the war. When the war finally finished, he requested a transfer to a quieter station, and he was sent to a backwoods space station, Starbase 86. There he took guardianship of his children again, although Amr had enlisted in Starfleet during the war. The Gereshks spent two years on Starbase 86 before being transferred to the USS Mercury.
